«It is stupid if you are not in Gujarat», Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata said in his address at the Vibrant Gujarat 2007 Global Investors Summit today.
Ratan Tata, associating the Parsi community’s bonding with the state of Gujarat, agreed on Gujarat as a “happening” state.
Tata also emphasised on the role Gujarat is supposed to play in improving the trajectory of the economy. Post the Singur imbroglio, Tata did not miss the opportunity to woo the investor lobby present here saying: «It is stupid if you are not in Gujarat. It is the right time to enter the state and stay for long.»
Along with Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, K V Kamath, Shashi Ruia and Ravi Sanghi highlighted the benefits they were reaping after their major investments in Gujarat and re-affirmed their determination for future investments in the state.
Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, re-emphasised the agenda of the summit re-terming SEZ saying: «Gujarat is an SEZ in itself as SEZ for us does not mean special economic zone but Spirituality, Enterprise and Zeal. We are sure that with the new definition of SEZ, Gujarat will be in a different league by 2010.»
