This book is the doctoral dissertation of I. Colditz originally submitted in 1994 at the Freie Universität, Berlin. Colditz has set herself the task to investigate Manichaean social terminology in Middle Iranian texts. Her intention is to find out how Manichaeans adapted and reinterpreted the extant Iranian social terminology of their time in their own texts, i.e. to determine how a religious minority reflected the social situation of contemporary Erân Shahr since early Sasanian times. The book contains indices with references of quotations, names and subjects.
